Self-introduction:
My
name is Carolina Gómez Alcalá. I graduated from the University of Cordoba with
a Major in English, Foreign Languages linguistics, and Humanities in 2015. I
moved to Long Island, New York, US, and worked and studied with English First
Cultural Car Au Pair until 2018. Later in the same year, I started working as
an ESL teacher in an English Training Center in a city called Jining in the
province of Shandong, China, and I continue working at the same training center
thus far. I reckon my knowledge and skills would be a great asset to your
institution with my great interest and experience in content and curriculum
development. In the course of my last college years, I worked closely in the
education field in various education establishments, mostly public schools. I
have worked as a freelance English private tutor and an English-Spanish
translator back in Colombia; this professional venture allowed me to develop my
apprentice translation skills and put them into practice more profoundly. Rehearsing and practicing the different
techniques I have been learning throughout my career expansion and growth have
encouraged me to continue studying and developing broad skill sets. I am
currently studying Chinese and Korean, as well as Graphic Design online at the
California Institute of the Arts. Besides, I am also an abstract and
impressionist artist with an acute interest in literature, philosophy, fine
arts, and graphic and interior design. I am very willing to learn and to
challenge myself no matter the circumstances nor the conditions. Feedback is
fundamental in one’s growth, and it is highly appreciated in my line of work as
well as throughout my creative process. It is of great inspiration to be able
to create and grow professionally and culturally, and I wish to continue doing
so.
